Terms of Service
These terms are between you and JetRift (“JetRift”, “we”, “us”), the operator of the JetRift website, game-server hosting service and related software (the “Service”). By signing in or using the Service you agree to these terms, the Privacy Policy, the Acceptable Use Policy and, if you buy anything, the Paid Plans and Refunds terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What JetRift is
JetRift lets you run a Minecraft: Java Edition server that starts when a friend joins and goes idle when everyone leaves. Servers run the open-source Pumpkin server software. Your world is stored on JetRift storage machines and is copied to a computing machine while the server is awake. JetRift is an independent project. It is not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with Mojang AB, Microsoft or the Pumpkin project. “Minecraft” is a trademark of Mojang AB.
2. Who may use it
- You must be at least 13 years old. If the law where you live sets a higher age for consenting to online services, you need a parent or guardian to agree for you.
- You must be able to form a binding contract. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use.
- You need a Google account to sign in, and players need a legitimate Minecraft: Java Edition account (servers require online-mode sign-in). You must follow the Minecraft EULA and Mojang’s usage guidelines.
- You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so by law, or if we have previously removed you for breaking these terms.
3. Your account
Keep your Google account secure; you are responsible for what happens under your JetRift account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has accessed it. We may limit the number of servers, storage, memory and processor time per account, and the amount available may change.
4. Your content and your servers
You keep all rights in your worlds, files, settings and anything else you upload (“Your Content”). You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to store, copy, transfer between our machines, process and display Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you, including making the temporary and checkpoint copies described in the Privacy Policy. You promise that you have the rights to Your Content and that it does not break the law or the Acceptable Use Policy.
If you run a server you decide who may join and what the rules are. You are responsible for your server’s moderation and for the people you invite. Players who join your server are subject to these terms as well as your server’s rules.
5. Availability, beta and data loss
- The Service is provided as is and as available. It is early software: it may be slow, change, or be interrupted, and a server may take a moment to wake.
- We take care to save your world when a server goes idle and at regular checkpoints, but we do not promise that a world will never be lost or corrupted. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose; the dashboard lets you download backups and worlds.
- Free servers may be limited or removed if they are inactive for a long time. We will try to give notice by email or in the dashboard before deleting an inactive world, but we are not required to.
6. Rules
You must follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, do not attack or abuse the Service, other networks or other people; do not use it for anything illegal; and do not use it to run anything other than a Minecraft server.
7. Suspension and ending
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your servers and account from the dashboard or by emailing [email protected]. We may suspend or end your access immediately and without notice if you break these terms or the law, if you put the Service or other people at risk, or if we are required to by law. We may also end the Service or any feature with reasonable notice where practicable. When a server or account is deleted we delete its worlds and files from our systems as described in the Privacy Policy.
8. Paid plans
JetRift is currently free. If we introduce paid plans, extra terms will apply (see Paid Plans and Refunds) and will be shown to you before you pay. Nothing is ever charged without your explicit action.
9. Intellectual property
The JetRift name, logo, website and our own software are ours or our licensors’. Pumpkin and other open-source components remain under their own licences (see Software licences). Except for the rights stated here, these terms do not give you any ownership in the Service. Feedback you send us may be used by us without obligation to you.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, we provide the Service without warranties of any kind, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, uninterrupted or error-free operation, or that your data will not be lost. Some places do not allow some disclaimers, so some of this may not apply to you; your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, JetRift and the people who run it are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill or game progress, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and (b) US$50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
12. Indemnity
If you are an adult, you agree to defend and compensate us against claims and costs that arise from Your Content, your server, or your breach of these terms or of someone else’s rights, to the extent the law allows.
13. Changes
We may update these terms. When we make a material change we will post it on this page with a new date and, where we can, tell you in the dashboard or by email. If you keep using the Service after the change takes effect, you accept it. If you do not accept it, stop using the Service and delete your account. Changes do not apply retroactively to disputes that already started.
14. Law and disputes
These terms and any dispute about the Service are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the state and federal courts located in California have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer you keep any mandatory rights you have under the law of the place where you live, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts. Before starting a formal claim, please email [email protected] and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
California users: under California Civil Code section 1789.3 you may report complaints to the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, CA 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
15. Everything else
- These terms are the whole agreement about the Service. If part of them is unenforceable the rest stays in force. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours as part of a merger, sale or reorganisation.
- Neither side is liable for failure caused by events outside its reasonable control, such as power or network outages, natural events or attacks on infrastructure.
